  i have just returned from visiting friends and family.

  when i was disassociated my parents had contact with me a few months before my dad was diagnosed with cancer.

  i was reinstated 20 months after his funeral and then they disfellowshipped me 5 months later as they are convinced i had not changed my life enough to be a jw again.

  this book has been recommended to me a few times.

  is it worth reading?.

  how could i get a copy without paying the massive amount stated on amazon and ebay?

  what are your thoughts on this quote from the elders book?

  'in order to extend mercy, the committee must be convinced that the wrongdoer has a changed heart condition and that he has a zeal to right the wrong and is absolutely determined to avoid it in the future.'.

  shepherd the flock page 91. i remember this is one of the first things that concerned me as an elder because it seemed to sound like a person is guilty until proven innocent rather than 'love believes all things', especially given the word 'convinced' appears in bold.. then in a training video one elder said something like 'unless we are convinced of repentance the shepherd the flock book says we must disfellowship'.

  that was the begining of the end for me as i thought surely true christians would reason the other way round and show mercy wherever possible.. any thoughts?.

  Appealing a DF decision

  i always found it interesting that one could appeal a disfellowshipping....if jehovah doesn't make mistakes, then there wouldnt be a need to "appeal" anything to begin with right?.

  It has been my experience and, also based on what I've heard, that appeals are easy to get but they always rubber stamp the original judgment.

  jehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.

  i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.

  .....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.

  I would tell them the following:

  "You know, even though the future will suffer from some pretty awful things NOTHING is going to happen in the way you've been predicting. Anyone can claim to know the future but you have had an abysmal track record of false prophecies such as saying that 1914 was going to be, not the beginning, but the actual end of the world on that date.

  I think it's possible Trump will start his own party.

  I don't think that Trump is the kind to start let alone run any organization - just look at the way he's handled his whole campaign. His is a personality cult.

  I'm 80% sure he will fizzle in the next year.

  A more subtle point. I saw some snow on the mountains in the background. I thought the water canopy, from before the flood, was supposed to be rebuilt. If it is, then the greenhouse effect that supposedly existed before the flood will prevent snow from occurring.
